BOILERSUITS

All images via Pinterest

My stylist uniform is pretty much a playsuit in the summer and dungarees in the winter. They are easy to wear and keep things (my bum) covered when I'm bending over tying up shoe laces and fixing hems. But lately I have become obssesed with boilersuits or utility jumpsuits as some like to call it. They work the same way at my beloved dungarees meaning they require not much thought. They look great with trainers and can be layered to keep me warm in the winter. Plus they can be dressed up with heels for a night out without looking too dolled (sorry Dolls) up.

GAP It comes in Khaki too and of course I bought both!

MY TOP 10 - MISS SELFRIDGE

I was prepping a shoot last week for Grazia and I did a store appointment in Miss Selfridge. In case you don't know, an appointment is when a stylist goes into store and borrows items for the shoot they are working on. When I was there I noticed loads of fab new bits so I thought I'd share my top 10 with you...

Blazer - I love this blazer. It's such a great shape and those ruched sleeves mean you aren't constantly pushing them up to get the look you want. Good thinking Miss S!

Jumper - You can't go wrong with a chunky knit and this bright red (I have a thing for red at the moment) one was calling out my name. Team with jeans, over dresses, skirts for now and add tights when it starts to get colder.

Jumpsuit - You'll know by now that I can't resist a jumpsuit and this polkadot print is one of my faves at the moment. What's not to love? I think I might have to buy this one.

Dress - This LBD is a bit conservative for me but there's just something about it that I like. It must be the ruffled detail that gives it a cute shape. It's not too dressy either so you can wear it day or night. Maybe not to soft play though.

Sweatshirt - I reeeeeally want a Kenzo Tiger sweatshirt (Ben if you're reading this you do keep buying Dolly presents, just saying) but it's so expensive and this is a great high street equivalent.

Coat - I resisted every urge to buy the Zara version of this coat last year because I thought one day when I win the lottery I will treat myself to the Acne one. Considering I don't play the lottery that day might never come so this is a great alternative.

Cropped Sweatshirt - We've discussed slogan tees and my love for them already on the blog so it goes without saying that I'm going to enjoy winter's equivalent.

Top - I love polkadots just a little less than I love leopard print. I would probably team this top with a pair of leopard print high waisted cigarette trousers but if I was out with Ben I'd just wear it with jeans so he didn't divorce me!

Stirrup Leggings - I had a pair of leggings just like these when I worked at heat magazine years ago. I thought they were the best thing ever and I wore them with oversized tees or chunky knits and high top converse. I'm thinking this could be an easy day time look for running around after Dolls.

Dress - I told you I had a thing for red at the moment. This sweet floral print tea dress would look great with my Chloe boots and denim jacket. Easy peasy outfit right there.

SLOGAN T-SHIRTS

Wearing: Charlotte Olympia Shoes Similar | ASOS Jeans | Gucci Belt | Muthahood T-Shirt | HM Jacket Similar & Similar | HM Earrings Similar

I spotted this ‘Strong Girls Club’ tee all over instagram and just had to have it in my life. Naturally I bought one for Dolls too, but I struggled to get a photo of the two of us together wearing them. Put it this way; she was having none of it. It wasn't annoying in the slightest! I’ve always been a fan of a slogan tee and just lately they've exploded onto the high street making it almost impossible not to tap into the trend. And why wouldn’t you? They're the easiest thing to wear (apart from a Breton, of course) and require no effort. We’re talking jeans and tee, skirt and tee, high waited trousers and tee…I could go on but you've probably got some serious slogan shopping to do.

DOLLY ROCKER

Wearing: Vans @Schuh Trainers | River Island Socks | My K @Mothercare Leggings | HM T-Shirt | GAP Denim Jacket Similar | Ebay Turban Headband

Don’t let the cuteness of these photos of Dolly fool you, folks - this was the most difficult outfit to photograph so far. Since turning 18 months Dolly has decided she wants more of an opinion on what she wears (we're talking diva tantrums). She doesn’t want to wear trousers anymore and pulls at them as soon as I put them on her. She also freaks out whenever I put her top on over her head. The only thing she doesn't have a problem with are her trainers. She likes these cute Snoopy Vans almost as much as me. It’s dramz we just don’t need when we are running late for creche/the gym in the morning. The turban isn’t a problem unless she realises it’s there. And as for the shades? Well, they were kind of her idea. Just as we were about to leave the house she picked up my sunglasses and put them on (upside down) and looked very impressed with herself. Lightbulb moment! I remembered these AMAZING Mickey Mouse sunglasses I bought when I was styling a shoot in DisneyWorld Florida at the start of the year. I actually stole the style from a little old lady who was lying on a sun lounger by the pool at Disney’s Grand Floridan Resort & Spa. She was wearing a black one piece swimsuit, a tight blonde perm, red lippy and these Mickey shades. She looked AWESOME! My friend then pointed out to me that they're actually kids sunglasses, and suddenly I loved her (and them) just that little bit more. Dolls wasn’t as impressed and didn't keep them on for long, so I decided to emulate my old lady style icon and wear them myself, much to Dolly’s delight!

LEOPARD LOVING LONG TIME

I have a MASSIVE love of leopard print but my husband (Ben) hates it. Apparently his mum wore it to pick him up from school when he was a child and it's scarred him for life. Animal print is a trend that's never out of style so it's worth investing in, which is why I recently added a few more pieces to my wardrobe. My first buys were these incred leggings and  matching crop top for the gym (don't worry, I’ll be wearing them with a black vest. I’m not that brave).

And I also couldn't not buy this cute bomber jacket from hm, which is in the sale and a total bargain.

I've put together a new lust list of animal-inspired loveliness and I’m desperately trying to resist the urge to splurge on the Ganni trousers, but I can’t stop thinking about them. They make my mouth water. Is that weird?
